I am so excited to be joining 99 other bloggers to create fun crafts and show you how!!
Michaels Craft Stores and Hometalk have put together this fun event for February 16th at local stores around the US and even Canada!!
We all love to spend time on Pinterest getting inspiration for our next projects!! Why not come on out and make one with me!! I will be putting my own spin on the projects below to show you how you can get the inspiration and make it your own!!
I will be at the Michaels located here in McKinney off of N Central Expressway between University and White. {1751 N Central Expy, Bldg B MCKINNEY, TX 75070-3113 Phone: (972) 547-0762}
Each Michaels will have end caps set up with these projects and you can pick them up early or the day of the class. You’ll find a Pinterest logo above each end cap to help you know. There are bird cages, terra cotta pots, burlap canvases, and glass bottle/vases. And so much more!! But you are not limited to what is selected… You can shop the store for these crafts or any other idea you have and play in the classroom with me and friends!! So I hope you will join us!!
I decided to put my own twist on the Burlap Canvas… combining lots of elements. Stencils, wood cut outs, monograms, Mod Podge, glitter, paper, and embellishments that were on clearance. Crafting is so much fun and you can make it look just like this or totally your own!! There was so much more I wanted to add to this but needed to keep in mind of time and costs… I never subscribe to the less is more in crafting… embellishing queen!! I love dimension and layers!!
Break down on my craft- I spent just over $30 to create my one canvas. But I have a whole paper pack leftover, lots of fun paints, and a stencil set I will use on lots of future projects.
The wood cutout was a fun element to play with ($2.49). I used Martha Stewart “Cloud” satin acrylic and “Jet Stream” Pearl paints on it ($2.49 ea.) The chevron paper is from the Heidi Swapp line ($19.99 40% off and I have a whole pad left to play with). The paper flowers were Recollections line in Simply Pastel and came with 9 pieces ($4.99). The metal flower was a 2 pack and clearance price at $1.29- score!! I used Martha Stewart glitter I had from home on the Y wood cut out that was just a $1.00. Martha Stewart Stencil $16.99 – used a 40% coupon. Burlap canvas is a 9 x 12 and is 40% of the $9.99 price.
And use your coupons… They have a great website with the weekly ad and you can text your coupons to your phone without having to print!!
My tip for cutting the oval for your cutouts… turn your paper over and place the cut out on top- trace along the cutout areas with a pencil all the way around. Then you have an almost perfect oval. Follow the lines with your scissors and should be nearly perfect when you go to decoupage it on!!
All other elements were hot glued down.
and as you see… I snuck the little bird in… cut out $.79 and was painted white.
Here are samples of some of the projects you can make.
I sure hope you will come out on Sunday February 16th from 1-4 pm to play along with me or another local blogger in your area!!
Also be sure to head over to the largest social network for Home and Garden- Hometalk and follow Michaels there for a chance to win a $100 giftcard.
Thanks for stopping by!!
