It all started through emails.  Lately, I am being contacted by so many grandmothers who are anxious to turn their family pieces into new nursery sets for their daughters.  I am loving it!! This story is sure to be one of my favorites.

The mother contacted me and told me her daughter was pregnant and she wanted to take her old dresser and armoire and have them redone.  She was so excited to have her granddaughter have the very set that she had slept in… but even more excited that the bottom drawer she had slept in her very first night home, was still intact with the note from her grandmother.  She had written it to her on the bottom of the drawer {in September of 1958}. Oh my heart races with love and excitement when I hear these types of stories.  I love it!!

Here’s the before…

They were in pretty rough shape, but they were set to be beautiful!! She drove up from Katy TX to deliver the first one… the armoire.  The one with the note on the bottom drawer.  With many color samples painted out and ideas in their heads.  We settled on “Cloud Pink” but we thought it was Benjamin Moore’s and turns out it was actually Behr.  Both so close in color- so if you’re loving this and want it done for you… I have the Benjamin Moore color ready!! I bought both!

They both required many many hours of stripping… and sanding…

But oh how it was worth the work!!  A little Webster’s Chalk Powder mixed in with the Behr Cloud Pink paint- like I did in this set here and here.

Painted out the inside drawer with Modern Masters Pharaoh Gold.  Hardware is also painted out with same and then a coat of Rub n Buff’s Antique Gold.  Just shines!!

And the sweet little dresser….

 

 

The walls in the nursery are Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter, a beautiful gray… this set will just be gorgeous in there!!
